We’re incredibly proud to share that James Torrie, Crop Manager at Wi Pere Trust, was the recipient
of the Emerging Leader award at the recent Citrus New Zealand Industry Awards.

James was recognised for his leadership potential, initiative, and fresh thinking — qualities that
continue to drive innovation and excellence in the wider horticulture sector.

“I’m really humbled to receive this award. It’s a reflection of the support I’ve had from the team
at Wi Pere Trust and the opportunities I’ve been given to grow and learn. I’m just grateful to be
part of an industry that’s full of passionate, hardworking people,” says James.

Held in Gisborne, the awards brought together more than 140 growers, industry leaders and guests
from across the country to celebrate the people shaping the future of citrus and horticulture in New
Zealand. James’ recognition is a testament to his dedication, vision, and the positive impact he’s
making in the horticulture sector.
